1006. Diana Vick

Diana Vick is vice chair, creative director, and co-founder of Steamcon, one of the oldest and largest steampunk conventions in the world, which is held in Seattle, Washington, USA. For the past several years, she has given talks and presentations on the topic of steampunk at many events and libraries across the United States, beginning with the infamous "guerilla steampunk panel" that she instigated at Dragoncon in Atlanta in 2008.

"Steampunk needs historical accuracy like a dirigible needs a goldfish." Diana Vick coined this phrase the very first time she dressed up steampunk and it has endured. One of her passions is doing costuming at events as well as creating her own props and jewelry for them. Her steampunk automaton costume, "Widget", took the grand prize in the masquerade at Orycon in 2009.

Interviewed by Women's Wear Daily Fast, and Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, Diana has also appeared on King Five News. She was honored as the first Fan Guest of Honor in 2012 at Clockwork Alchemy, a steampunk convention in California.

As a writer, Diana has contributed many articles, guest blogs and tutorials on the subject of steampunk. Also an artist, she has worked in such diverse fields as comic books, animation, and games, including Magic the Gathering and Legend of the Five Rings.
