2521. World of Steam

The World of Steam is a set of Twilight Zone-like episodes set in a Steampunk Universe. The World of Steam is a web series that sets out to explore the deep recesses of a Steampunk world.


This web series is directed, produced and written by Matt Yang King, winner of the CAPE/Hollywood Foreign Press Young Screenwriters Award and actor on shows such as 24, GI Joe: Renegades, and Numb3rs. The show is edited by Lisa Lassek (The Avengers, The Cabin in the Woods); makeup by Thomas Surprenant (Emmy winner - Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer); composed by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, Terminator, The Walking Dead); and set, prop and costume designs by Scott and Mary Folsom.

Three episode comprise the first season, as noted in the Kickstarter funding campaign:

The Clockwork Heart - Hieronymous Smythe has lost his wife, the love of his life. So he builds a copy of her out of clockwork. It seemed a good idea at the time. This episode was released November 20, 2013.

The Duelist - Lord Ezra Grey is a Duelist - the best of his kind. But when a young man comes seeking revenge for his father's death, Lord Grey must decide if he will answer the young man with blood and steel, or something else.

The Secret Language of Flowers - Violais a girl of simple desires; her only dream to become a Natural Philosopher (Scientist). But when a foreign Prince woos her with a secret cypher hidden within the simple blooms of a garden, she must decide once and for all what she truly wants.
